Air India employee alleges harassment

Panaji: Alleging a "witch-hunt" because he belongs to the SC/ST community, an Air India staffer and his family have decided toundertake an indefinite hunger strike outside Goa international airport from July 3.
Suresh Babu, a security officer with Air India, has not been paid wages for the three years and seeks justice, said his wife K Seeja Babu and advocate Thallman Pereira while addressing a press conference at the Sahitya Sevak Mandal.
Babu and his family will continue their fast till Air India takes cognisance of his plight and grants him voluntary retirement.
Seeja claimed that her husband, a former defence ministry employee, has been repeatedly targeted by a group of officials for the last 12 years for the sole reason that he belongs to the SC/ST category. Seeja also alleged that due to Babu's role in detecting and assisting customs officials in curbing narcotic smuggling, "a certain group of officials of Air India have developed malicious approach towards him for being a member of the scheduled caste".
According to Babu's wife their two children had to discontinue their studies, as he is without salary.
