Bengaluru: With parents finding it increasingly difficult to handle toddlers and teenagers during air travels, a few airlines have come up with ways to make the journey entertaining for children and stress-free for parents. On-board toys, puzzles and candies, online games, music and entertainment channels, healthy and tasty food for tiny tots, baby meals and cots -- airlines are offering a range of options to keep their young customers gleefully engaged.
Emirates Airline, for instance, lines up bassinets, pillows and blankets, special meals, among other things, to keep kids in high spirits. "We have dedicated services like special meals, non-stop entertainment system, toys and goodies for toddlers and teens to keep them occupied through the journey. This is to ensure parents flying with kids have a peaceful and memorable flight experience. Families travelling with little children receive priority boarding and are provided changing tables and complimentary strollers at Dubai International Airport on arrival and transit," said Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, vice president, India and Nepal, Emirates Airline.
Singapore Airlines keeps its young passengers occupied by providing them special amenity kits, including crayons, erasers of various shapes, colouring and puzzle books. KrisWorld, a state-of-the-art in-flight entertainment and communications system on board, provides access to over a 1,000 entertainment options like movies, TV shows, music library and over 80 interactive games.
The airline also has a platter of delicious and healthy meals for the young ones. "Inflight cuisine for children must cater to three aspects - nutrition, taste and visual appeal. Baby meal for infants, post-weaning meal for those between 1 and 2 years, child meal for those below 2 and child meal for those between 2 and 7 years old are the special choices," said David Lim, general manager (India), Singapore Airlines.
To make the journey colourful for children, Jet Airways has a special segment of service called JetKids, under which they are provided with a diverse selection of movies and TV shows meant for pre-teens and teens.
