Bizman kidnapped by friend after getting caught at airport

Bengaluru: A 33-year-old businessman was allegedly kidnapped and beaten up by his friend and three others after he was caught by custom officials at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) for trying to smuggle around 500 gm gold (without any documents of purchase) from Singapore. In his police complaint, Abdul Azeez, a resident of Bhoopasandra, RMV extension second stage, said when he was about to leave for Singapore on a business trip, his friend Mirza Mohammed Baig asked him to bring some gold from Singapore. Azeez readily agreed, and Baig gave him Rs 13.5 lakh. Azzez told police that Baig had told him that he would bear his travel expenses if he brought him gold and paid Rs 15,000 for it. Azeez went to Singapore on June 24 and returned on June 26. Soon after he landed in KIA, he was caught by customs officials who seized gold weighing 449.6 g from him and sent him out of the airport premises as he failed to produce any documents for the gold. Baig was waiting for Azeez outside the Airport. Azeez told police that he informed Baig about the custom officials seizing gold from him. They both had a heated argument and left. After reaching home, Baig demanded that Azeez return Rs 5 lakh, but he said he did not have the amount and went to his house with Rs 50,000. When he was walking out after handing over the money, Baig bundled him into a van in which Baig's son Munna and two others, Naseer and Saleem ,were seated. Baig got into the car and took him for a drive to Mahadevpura, Richards Park and assaulted him. They later took Azeez to a house next to the indoor stadium in Koramangala. They kept him confined there and beat him up. They threatened Azeez to give gold or cash or else they would kill him. Azeez managed to escape from the house in the wee hours and was hiding from them.
