CISF Detains 21 Minor in Imphal Airport

21 minor boys were deboarded from a Kolkata bound flight at Imphal’s Tulihal Airport on Thursday for travelling without guardians and proper documents. Apprehending it to be a case of child-trafficking, a CISF team contacted Child Line Manipur, whose officials along with the police came to rescue the children.

The minor boys who were travelling in a group were reportedly intercepted by the CISF personnel deployed at the airport this morning after a commotion was created when one of the younger boys refused to board the plane. The commotion made by the minor boy, said to be in his pre-teens, attracted attention at the airport when he burst into tears and refused to board the plane. The CISF team found out that the minor boy was in the list of a group of passengers who were travelling to Kolkata without any guardian or proper documents to pursue their studies in religious schools.

From the airport, the boys were taken to the office of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights (MCPCR) for verification and contacting their guardians. As soon as the news spread, the guardians and students’ and community leaders rushed to the commission’s office.
