CM keen on Calicut airport expansion

Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday ordered a meeting at Malappuram on August 6 to break the impasse over acquisition of 375 acres needed for expansion of the Calicut International Airport.

Local Administration Minister K.T. Jaleel will chair the meeting, to which representatives of all political parties in Malappuram (where the airport is located) will also be invited to discuss ways to speed up land acquisition.

The Chief Minister met the officials and elected representatives from Kozhikode and Malappuram districts, Calicut airport authorities and office-bearers of two chambers of commerce in Kozhikode to discuss ways to speed up land acquisition, which held the key to runway expansion and resumption of major flights.
