Foreign currency seized from international airport

Amritsar: Custom officials here seized around 4.9 Venezuelan Bolivar equivalent to around Rs 32.8 lakh from a passenger Mohammad Anwar, resident of Delhi. A release issued by the department on late Saturday evening informed that Anwar arrived at Amritsar's international airport on board Air India flight IX192 from Dubai. The passenger had concealed currency in his baggage and two speakers. Anwar was arrested under the provision of Customs Act 1962 for importing illegal foreign currency but was released on bail after confiscation of Venezuelan Bolivar's.
