Indian govt not doing enough to get Mallya back, says ex-Kingfisher Airlines official

New Delhi: With the 'wilful defaulter' Vijay Mallya continuing to run his free will in London, an internal inquiry by Diageo, the owner of Mallya's erstwhile firm United Spirits Limited reveals financial bungling of over Rs 1225 crore.
India Today spoke to former Executive Director of Kingfisher Airlines Parvez Damania who worked closely with Vijay Mallya on the charges against 'on the run' Indian business tycoon.
"Mallya knows everything as money was transferred from USL to Kingfisher Airlines under his watch, the rot runs deeper. Indian authorities are not doing enough and the government is not in a position to get Mallya back", said Parvez Damania.
Its been 221 days and counting when Vijay Mallya, facing pressure over non payment of Rs 9000 crore dues to Indian banks, sneaked out from Delhi to London on a business class ticket. Interestingly in March Mallya had hit back claiming as an international businessman he travels abroad frequently, denying 'fleeing' from India.
But so far he has failed to appear before ED in another case of routing funds from IDBI banks illegally and has been declared 'proclaimed offender' by the PMLA court in June.
"Vijay Mallya continues to enjoy his lifestyle in UK. He doesn't have any intention of coming back to India", said Damania citing Mallya's recent public appearances at a book launch in London and attending F1 Grand Prix media event.
