Air India felicitates Sakshi Malik for bronze medal feat; offers business class tickets

New Delhi: Ever since wrestler and bronze medalist Sakshi Malik won the first medal for India at the ongoing Rio 2016 Olympics, she has been flooded with wishes and felicitations.
She will be the recipient of Rs. 2.5 crore prize money from Haryana government, Rs 60 lakhs by Indian Railways and the Rs 20 lakhs from Indian Olympic Association, among others. Now, Air India has felicitated her for the win at Rio 2016, ANI reported.
In a letter addressed to the wrestler, Air India said that her victory made them proud and happy.
In a recent interview, Sakshi had said that she wanted to become a sports person to be able to travel in a plane. The airline took note of this and, marking their ‘recognition and gratitude’ for her ‘outstanding achievement at the Rio Olympics,’ have offered her two return business class tickets between any two destinations on the Air India network, valid for a period of two years. The tickets will be for her and one other companion.
“I recently read your statement…and was indeed touched by the same,” the letter read, signed by Ashwani Lohani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India.
