BMC may get time to raze floors of bldg near airport

Mumbai: The Bombay high court on Friday said it will consider BMC's plea for time to demolish illegal floors of a Santacruz building which is in line with the flight path of Mumbai airport's runway.

A bench of Justice Vidyasagar Kanade and Justice Mahesh Sonak was told by BMC's advocate Harshad Pimple that BMC is awaiting a court order before it proceeds to demolish the illegal floors of Sunita Cooperative Housing Society.
On Wednesday, the court vacated a status quo order by another bench of the HC about the demolition. The direction was passed at the hearing of a PIL about a threat that aircraft face from highrises around the airport.
