Forest land bypassed for airport expansion

Kolkapur: Suggesting a few changes to the airport development land, the district collector has proposed to shift the isolation bay to the right side of the strip instead of acquiring the forest land in the Gadmudshingi village. This piece of land is already in possession of the airport authority of India (AAI).
The recommendation is regarded as a major breakthrough for the pending proposal of airport development for which 10 hectares of land was needed to create some facility on the left side of the air strip. The report containing the details of expansion has been submitted to the higher authorities.
The airport authority of India (AAI) has already received 223 hectares of land from the state government after the latter acquired it for expansion of the existing airport. The proposal for acquisition of 10 hectares of land was under consideration because of the proposed construction of isolation bay for the aircraft movement.
