CISF personnel at the Raja Bhoj Airport in Bhopal detained a man who was found to be carrying an unlicensed pistol in his luggage. The man was to board an air ambulance for a private medical facility in Delhi and has now been booked under the Arms Act.
The CISF has set an additional scanner at the entrance of the Bhopal airport as part of the enhanced security in the run up to Independence Day.
On Tuesday, a man later identified as Brijesh Dhimole, 42, resident of Banwari village in Narsinghpur district arrived at the airport to board an air ambulance that he had requisitioned from Delhi.
Brijesh's brother Dinesh was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bhopal from where he was referred for treatment to Delhi.
When Brijesh put his bag in the scanner at the airport the CISF personnel manning the scanner were shocked to find a country made pistol in the baggage.
When questioned, Brijesh failed to produce a license for a weapon. He was then handed over to the local police.
