Dibrugarh: Air Services in this part of the Upper Assam Region is to be boost up with the initiation of a new direct flight service between Dibrugarh to Kolkata, from October 30 by National carrier Air India. The new flight services which will now directly connect the Tea City of India Dibrugarh to the City of Joy Kolkata, is a result of the long standing demands of the citizens and public organizations of Dibrugarh such as Eastern Assam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Dibrugarh Bar Association.
The new Kolkata to Dibrugarh flight—AI-705— will depart at 5:55 am and arrive Dibrugarh at 7:30 AM, while the Dibrugarh to Kolkata flight—AI-706—will depart at 8:10 AM and reach Kolkata at 9:35 AM. These flights will be available on week days except on Monday and Saturday.
The news of the said direct flight service from Dibrugarh to Kolkata has been welcomed by the citizens of the District and they are hopeful that such steps taken in the interest of all help ushering new roads to development to the thriving industrial sector in this part of the region. Such initiatives would further provide a respite to the scholars and students of Assam Medical College and Hospitals (AMC&H), Dibrugarh University, and the Regional Medical Research Centre. The new flight services would also help the international passengers who arrive at Kolkata in the wee hours and have to travel to the district or beyond.
