Vizag international airport puts up display boards to inform passengers of Zika symptoms

Visakhapatnam:  In the wake of the outbreak of Zika virus in Singapore, the Port Health Organisation (PHO) under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have issued an advisory to the officials of Visakhapatnam international airport to put up display boards on its premises to make aware the travellers about the virus.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure and to create awareness among the passengers on the virus.

“The health officials have directed us to put up standees. Two boards have been put up near the international arrival hall and two more at the international departure hall. We have put up the board as a flight from Singapore is scheduled to land in the city on Sunday at 10.05 pm,” Visakhapatnam airport director Vinod Sharma told Express.

The contents on the display boards (standees) includes the causes, symptoms and prevention of Zika virus. The travelers will also be informed to report immediately or to consult a doctor in case they have developed any symptoms.
