Flying banned in BRICS summit area

Panaji: Flying would be banned around the places where the events of the BRICS summit would be held, the Goa government said today.

Heads of the states of BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) nations would be arriving in the state for the annual summit on October 15 and 16.

A notification of the Goa government said flying around the areas in South Goa, where the summit would take place would be prohibited from October 14 to 17.

"The presence of such high dignitaries at the respective venues would require highest degree of security arrangement including aerial security measures," South Goa district administration said in the notification issued here.

The District Magistrate has prohibited operation of light or micro-light aircraft, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), short-range aerial vehicles, low flying objects such as para gliders, hang gliders, hot air balloons, para motors, aero models, air-borne video cameras or drones and similar objects, it said.
