Terror threat: Extensive search launched at Amritsar international airport

Amritsar: In the wake of terrorists' threat to airports, Amritsar police carried out an extensive search operation in the periphery of Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport on Sunday and decided to hold joint patrolling along with the Air Force and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personals. Both CISF and Air Force personnel participated in the search operation.
Senior superintendent of police, Amritsar, Rural, Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh informed TOI on Sunday that following the intelligence input of threat to airports in north India, police carried out a search operation in the funnel area of airport.
"We carried out search in the villages in the periphery of airport, checked houses, abandoned places, agriculture land, thick growth of trees and bushes and vehicle also," he said, adding, that their aim was to sensitize the people especially living in village Radala, which was just adjacent to airport's rear side.
