Traffic cops want alternative route to KIA before Aero India

Unless an alternative road with a new entrance to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) comes up, Aero India 2017 may run into rough weather, traffic police said on Tuesday. They said this after the first preparatory meeting for Bengaluru's flagship air show and aviation exhibiton.
Additional commissioner of police, traffic, R Hitendra said since the last edition of Aero India in 2015, KIA has recorded an increase of 3.67 million in passenger traffic. With thousands of people expected to hit the the road for the show scheduled for February 14-18, an already overburdened Ballari Road may not be able to bear the load. The biennial event is hosted by the Yelahanka Air Force Station.
"Considering that the traffic movement on the road was severely affected during the last Aero India, the traffic to airport would come a standstill during the next show," he said, explaining why traffic police are insisting on the alternative route.
