Kalaburagi: M Mallikarjun Kharge, opposition leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha, has directed Air India officers to complete the works on Kalaburagi airport within a year. To complete the pending works, the state government has given Rs 109 crore.
After inspecting the works here on Thursday, the MP said this has been a long-pending demand of the people of Kalaburagi district. Necessary efforts have been made to hasten the works, he added.
Three packages of works have been taken up: first one is on the run way, second is on the fencing wall, and the third is on drainage works. These works have been taken up at a cost of Rs 84 crore. They are expected to be completed by June 2017.
