Crowdsourcing for airport upgrade

The spartan Lohegaon airport could soon get a much-needed upgrade in facilities.
With the Airports Authority of India soon to take possession of over 15 acres of defence land for the existing airport, the Pune Airport Advisory Committee is toying with the idea of crowdsourcing to know what people want.
Anil Shirole, committee chairman and Pune MP, said the existing airport will be expanded with a focus on proper passenger amenities, and welcomed the views of the public.
"Groundwork, in terms of surveys, is on at Purandar for the new airport, which will take three to four years to come up. During this time, the existing airport at Lohegaon needs to be developed properly, with a focus on passenger amenities. A system of getting opinions from people - crowdsourcing - will be developed in which the people can give their suggestions and ways to make it more passenger-friendly. For now, people can log on to www.anilshirole.in and give feedback," Shirole told TOI.
