Flemingo Duty Free, subsidiary of Flemingo International has unveiled its recently refreshed retail fascia ‘GO Duty free’ at Anna International Airport in Chennai where it has been operating since 2007. The shops were inaugurated by Mr Deepak Shastri, the Airport Director for Chennai International Airport.
This follows the company’s win of nine duty free airport concessions in India in January this year, which included the seven-year extension of Flemingo’s Chennai contract.
Chennai Airport handles over 5m international passengers a year and has seen growth of 6% year-on-year.
Flemingo says that early customer reaction has been ‘very positive’, reflected in the 70% sales increase on last year and increased footfall. The size of the arrivals store is about 2,300sq ft and the departures store is about 3,300sq ft.
