Air passenger consumer rights body calls for fog preparedness

Consumer rights body, the Air Passengers Association of India (APAI), on Monday urged the government to take pre-emptive steps urgently to deal with delays in flight schedules on account of fog.
"Flight schedules in Delhi in particular and north Indian cities in general were disrupted on Saturday due to dense fog as a consequence of morning temperature dipping below 12 degree Celsius, which brought visibility below 50 meters in Delhi Airport. As per the feedback, we have received close to 60 flights were disrupted. Of that, 40 flights were delayed, 15 diverted and one was cancelled. This morning also, the situation remained the same since there was a thick envelope of fog in the atmosphere in Delhi and nearby places, which led to disruptions of flights," said D Sudhakara Reddy, president, APAI.
