Kozhikode: Customs officials in Mumbai airport were alerted about detection of assorted currencies of other countries during the screening of the baggage of a passenger at the Calicut airport at Karipur, airport sources here today.
The passenger, who was carrying foreign currencies worth around Rs 1.17 crore, was yesterday allowed to travel after questioning in the airport here.
After the Calicut-Mumbai Indigo flight departed at 11.40 AM yesterday, the Customs and Income Tax authorities here contacted their Mumbai counterparts about the presence of the currencies, including Saudi Riyal and Pound Sterling in the baggage of the passenger, CISF sources said.
