Postponing its earlier plans to finalise a developer for the proposed Bhogapuram greenfield airport in Vizianagaram by January next year, the state government is now aiming to complete the finalisation of the developer between March and June next year.
According to sources, the state government is now aiming to complete the public hearing by the second week of January in order to obtain environmental clearance from the ministry of environment and forests.
Subsequently, once the public hearing and land acquisition process is completed, the state government will look at finalising the developer, the sources said.
"Recently, some of the bidders visited the proposed site of the Bhogapuram International Airport after the second week of November. The site received positive response from the developers," a senior AP government official said, adding that the public hearing is likely to be held on January 11 following which the government is aiming to expedite the process of obtaining clearance from the MoEF.
