Helicopter Operations Debate Height TO FLY At

Pilots, frustrated with government apathy towards increasing altitude that choppers can fly at, held meet

Unhappy helicopter operators and pilots from the city met on Tuesday to discuss the government’s lackadaisical attitude towards the implementation of a 2015 Directorate General of Civil Aviation proposal which would increase the altitude at which choppers were allowed to fly over Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. While the DGCA had surveyed flight paths and cleared the way to increase the altitude from 500 feet to 1,000 feet in August last year, it never kicked off, despite being raised repeatedly at flight safety meetings. The proposal has remained on paper since.
