A Victim Of Performance Data Fudging

Indigo airline has questioned their on-time performance (OTP) at the Mumbai airport claiming that the process of computation was prone to fudging.

In a complaint made to Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) last week, Sanjeev Ramdas, executive vice president, customer services and operations control, Indigo, said that there was inconsistency between OTP data filed by other airlines at the Mumbai airport and Airport Collaborative Decision Making (ACDM) - a standardized method for managing airport operations operated by the Airports Authority of India based on data collected by the Air Traffic Controllers (ATC).

In its complaint Indigo said, “We would like to bring to your notice the apparent inconsistency in airlines’ MIAL and ACDM’s on OTP data at Mumbai airport. Being the busiest airport in the country, one slight change in the data could bring significant swing in the overall picture.”
