Anti-hijack mock exercise conducted at Hyderabad airport

The operator of city-based Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) has conducted a full -scale anti-hijack mock exercise in collaboration with multiple stakeholders to test their preparedness to deal with a hijack situation.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL) said the exercise was conducted at the airside of the airport in presence of senior officials of the company, Telangana and Central Government last week.
A bus was used as a dummy hijacked aircraft for this drill, a release from GMR said today.
The full-scale anti-hijack mock drill is conducted at every airport annually as mandated by the National Civil Aviation Security Programme (NCASP). The drills aim is to test the efficiency of airport?s contingency plan and to familiarise all agencies about their respective responsibilities in a hijack situation, it said.
