Gannavaram Airport To Be “Ntr Amaravati International Airport”

The Centre responded positively to a request by Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu that the Gannavaram airport, which is now being developed as international airport, be named after late NT Rama Rao. Civil aviation minister P Ashok Gajapathi Raju assured Naidu that the government would consider the request.

Naidu made this request while laying foundation stone for expansion of the runway and inauguration of the new terminal. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Union ministers M Venkaiah Naidu, Bandaru Dattatreya and YS Chowdary were present at the events Naidu also appealed to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to establish maintenance, repair and overhauling (MRO) of aircraft facilities in Andhra Pradesh. The state will provide all facilities for this, he assured.

Naidu claimed huge increase in the air traffic to Gananvaram, Visakhapatnam and Tirupati after the bifurcation of the state.
