Passengers reach Delhi, glitch holds back luggage

Ahmedabad: As many as 60 passengers on an Ahmedabad- Delhi flight got a rude shock upon landing at their destination when they discovered that their baggage had been left behind at Ahmedabad airport. While the airline has claimed that a few bags could not be loaded due to a broken luggage belt at Ahmedabad airport, the passengers claim the airline had failed to transport the bags by other flight later in the day. Airport Director AK Sharma acknowledged that there had been some technical glitch in the luggage belt that affected operations for a few hours and two flights had trouble loading luggage.

“However it was sorted out within couple of hours and operations is back to normal,” Sharma said. According to sources, the Delhi-Ahmedabad Indigo flight landed in Delhi around 9 am on Monday. “When the passengers deplaned and went to collect their luggage, they discovered that it had not arrived with them. As many as 60 passengers were affected. We are still sitting at Delhi airport waiting for the bags. Indigo has assured they will send the bags on the last flight,” said Nirmesh Kapoor, one of the passengers. An elderly passenger Krishna Kapoor said that her medicines were in her bags that was left behind in Ahmedabad. “I can’t go too long without the meds. I hope they give us our bags soon,” she said.

A senior officer of Indigo airlines in the city confirmed that some of the bags were left behind in the city airport.
