The Surya Kirans, the aerobatic team of the Indian Air Force (IAF), will perform for the 500th time on Tuesday at the Aero India 2017, marking a major milestone for the outfit that first took to the skies in 1996.
However, it would be the first time that the six performing aircraft teams will display the Hawk MK132 aircraft after the IAF temporarily disbanded the earlier version of the acclaimed team as it reallocated the Kiran MKII aircraft for training pilots. “It is a momentous occasion for all of us,” said Wing Commander Ajit Kulkarni, commanding officer of the Surya Kirans.
