Airports Authority permits parallel taxiway at Mangaluru airport

Mangaluru: Airports Authority of India has given permission for undertaking second phase construction work of the parallel taxi track at the international airport here. It has also given its nod for grading work of the basic strip located in the southern side, said director of the airport, J T Radhakrishna.

The total cost of works being taken up here is Rs 98 crore. First phase of the 1,200-metre long taxiway has already been completed and the airport is awaiting clearance from the Airports Authority.
Till now, the airport here had the facility only for six aircrafts to be parked at a time. Now, the capacity has been increased to eight, with two more bases having been created to the east. These bases await permission from the directorate general of civil aviation at present before they can be put to use.
