Courier operations at Tiruchi airport sought

The Tiruchi-based Air, Rail and Road Travellers Federation has urged the Central government to ensure early clearance for the commencement of the international courier operations at the Tiruchi international airport.

In a memorandum to the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, the Federation president M. Sekaran said the international courier operation was awaiting clearance from the Commissioner of Customs, Tiruchi.

The international airport was ready by putting in place necessary facilities for the start of the international courier operations, said Mr. Sekaran, one of the members of the Airport Advisory Committee of the Tiruchi airport.

Launch of the international courier operations would also enable dispatch of samples and import of life saving medicines and others, he added.
