DGCA seized of matter on 'Bogus certificates' of pilots: Minister

New Delhi: Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju today assured the Lok Sabha that the government is seized of the matter pertaining to 'bogus certificates' of pilots as highlighted in a court ruling and maintained that it will never make any compromise on the safety and security in air travel."Indian skies are the safest in the world," the Minister told the House during Question Hour replying to supplementary queries from Bhatruhari Mahtab (Biju Janata Dal) and Gaurav Gogoi (Congress).With regard to 'bogus certificates' issue, the licences of the pilots are issued by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Mr Raju said.Mr Mahtab referred to the ruling from the Bombay High Court where in the DGCA was directed to submit a list of pilots who have obtained their commercial pilot license after submitting bogus certificates.
"What are the preemptive measures being taken to avoid such cases," Mr Mahtab asked.Responding to him, the Minister said DGCA has taken cognisance of the court observation and that there is also a system of 'periodical inspection' by the authorities to avoid recurrence of cases of bogus certificates.
