Ethiopian Celebrates 45 Years of Non-Stop Service to Mumbai

Mumbai: Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest Airline Group, is celebrating 45 years of non-stop service to Mumbai, Indian. In 1971, Ethiopian Airlines made its maiden flight to Mumbai and has over the period of time increased its airlift to 28 scheduled weekly flights to Mumbai and New Delhi given that India is a very crucial market for Ethiopian. With several decades of experience in the industry, Ethiopian has become one of the continent’s leading carriers, unmatched in efficiency and operational success.

Group CEO,Tewolde GebreMariam, said: "We are very happy to celebrate this milestone of 45 years uninterrupted service to Mumbai, which was one of our earliest destinations and is one of our strongest markets in Asia today. We have contributed our part in forging closer investment, trade and people-to-people ties between Africa and India. Today, we have come closer to the needs of our Indian customers, serving a variety of culinary experiences: Indian, Halal, Vegetarian meals, prepared at a dedicated Kitchen in our modern Inflight catering facility, the largest in the continent of Africa. Finally, we would like to thank our Indian travellers for their continued patronage.”

The Regional Director of the Indian Subcontinent, Tadesse Tilaun on his part said: “India is a growing and very strategic market for Ethiopian. We have plans to expand our operations in India, both in passenger and cargo. We have finalised our preparation to launch freighter operation to Ahmedabad in the month of March 2017, and passenger service to one South Indian point any time this year.”He added, “During this prestigious occasion of celebrating 45 years in Mumbai and the 70th anniversary of the Corporate airline, as an appreciation to our esteemed customers, we are offering very attractive discounts to the travelling public. We are offering up to 45% discounts in Economy class fares and up to 70% discount on Business class fares for travel originating from India”.
