Fog hits flights at Bengaluru's Kempegowda Airport

Bengaluru:  The arrival and departure of several flights, including international ones, was delayed on Monday early morning at the Kempegowda International Airport due to severe fog.

As fog settled in the airport from 5 am, early morning flights to and from Mumbai, Delhi, Cochin, Chennai were delayed. This had a cascading effect and led to delays down the line. The delays have been going on for a month due to fog. It is to be noted that KIA witnesses heavy traffic in the morning and there are a minimum of 50 departures between 5 to 8 am.

Passengers had to wait for 2-3 hours to get to board their respective flights. Airport officials had a tough time accommodating the delayed flights as the airport has been temporarily shutting the runway till March 31, between 10.30 am to 5 pm, for the construction of runway and taxiways.
