Hyderabad: The city has potential to evolve into a major aviation manufacturing related industry hub in Asia, Prof Srikanth Kondapalli of the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) said today.
Speaking at an International Conference on ‘Changing Security Dynamic in the Indo-Pacific’ here organised by the Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) Kondapalli said many internationally reputed defence companies are looking at India for producing military equipment.
“Hyderabad has many natural advantages such as defence research labs and robust educational network,” he said.
Rajat Kathuria, Director and Chief Executive, ICRIER, pointed out that Asia is experiencing twin dynamic of growing economies and also increased tension because of the territorial conflicts.
“This dichotomy cannot be sustained over the long run,” he said and called for more inclusive regional frameworks in the Indo-Pacific region.
Referring to other international disputes such as South China Sea Dispute, Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) Chairman K Padmanabhaiah stressed the necessity of adhering to international law.
