India's civil aviation sector desperately falling short of skilled workers, says Civil Aviation Minister

New Delhi:  Reiterating government’s push to skill development, Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju Pusapati on Thursday said the civil aviation sector is desperetely in need of skilled workers and is key to the growth of the India’a aviation sector, which is growing over other developed and developing economies globally.

Speaking at the day-long first  Executive Development  Programme of Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University the minister said there is an increasing demand for trained and skilled people  in the aviation sector.

“In the present scenario people are looking for jobs and  airlines are looking for trained persons. India is on the cusp of exponential growth in the aviation sector and a critical need was felt for India to invest in research and innovation in the aviation in order to ensure that the growth is protected and to develop into a global aviation hub,” the minister said.

The programme was attended by senior officials from the Indian aviation sector to include air operators, airport operators, ancillary service providers and regulatory authorities.
