Aurangabad: Women and child welfare minister Pankaja Munde called off her day-long campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates — contesting Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Aurangabad and Ahmednagar — after the helicopter, she was supposed to fly in, developed a technical snag.
"After the minister reached the helipad, the pilot tried to start the helicopter only to find that it has developed a technical snag. The pilot kept trying for the next 30 minutes but failed. Eventually a message was sent to the aviation company having its office in Mumbai," said an eye-witness from Parli.
A BJP leader privy to the minister's tour said, "We do not have car mechanics in Beed who are as sharp as the ones who fixed the helicopter in Kolhapur. So, we communicated about the snag to the aviation company and technicians are on their way to Parli."
With bleak possibility of the helicopter getting repaired anytime soon, the minister called off her trip, leaving the candidates and party workers disappointed.
