Bengaluru: The 500th public show of the Surya Kiran team was a flawless display of aerobatics as the six planes took to the sky and pulled off complex formations such as the spear, yankee and goblet in the new Hawk aircraft, leaving the audience in awe.
The team, which returned to Aero India after performing last in 2011 in their old aircraft, Kiran Mk II, seemed at ease in the new Hawks which were flying up to 1.7 times faster than the Kirans. The team has had to adapt to the increased speeds and decreased time between manoeuvres, with speeds up to 650 kmph.
