Bhubaneswar: Authorities of the Biju Patnaik International Airport have set up two temporary exclusive lounges to keep passengers away from athletes and officials and ensure security and comfort. While the lounge at the domestic terminal has a seating capacity of 50, the one at the international terminal can seat up to 25 persons.
The temporary lounges will be in use till July 7. Similar facilities would be arranged at the departure lounge, said airport director Suresh Chandra Hota.
The state government has also formed three teams to assist the nodal officer - a special officer in charge of airport affairs - to ferry athletes and note the arrival of each team and accompanying officials. The teams would work in two shifts, said a state government officer. The designated officers have been asked to look after reception, maintenance of temporary lounges, refreshments and baggage belts.
The airport has made arrangements for the parking of buses to ferry athletes to and from hotels.
