MADC selects five bidders for final round for Nagpur airport runway project

Five bidders have been selected by the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) from a group of six applicants for the construction of the second runway at Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport at Nagpur.

The five companies that qualified for the final stage of bidding are Essel Infraprojects, GMR, GVK, PNC Infratech and a consortium of Tata Realty and Tata Projects.

MADC is the operator of the airport, which is overseeing the expansion plan.

Currently, the airport has only one runway which is just over 3 km long and 30 metres wide. The bid is for the construction of a brand new parallel runway that will be 4.5 km long and 60 metres wide.

Apart from this plan, the winning company will have to construct a taxiway that can be used to evacuate aircraft to the two soon-to-be-ready maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facilities.
