Bengaluru: The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has launched a medical centre for both travellers and visitors. Operated by Aster CMI Hospital, the centre will have a team of trained medical and non-medical staff besides clinical technicians, working round-the-clock.
Spread across an area of about 10,000 sqft, the facilities at the centre include cardiac care, X-ray, mortuary, audiometry and ophthalmology units. The equipment, according to a release, meet the standards of pilot medicals and other tests specific to an airport environment.
Equipped with a 10-bed, 24/7 emergency unit and ambulance, the centre will also offer pre-employment express health checks, the release said. The centre is located in a separate building at the end of the terminal building, on the kerbside. The facility has been designed keeping in view the growing number of international passengers at the Bengaluru Airport, a hospital official said. The centre also has a waiting lounge for international patients, besides translators and coordinators, to make their interaction seamless.
