Overloaded Spicejet flight arrives without 10 passenegrs luggage

Pune: Ten passengers of a SpiceJet flight from Dubai to Pune on July 24 had a shock when they landed here and realised that their luggage had not come. The reason given by the airline’s ground staffers was that the aircraft had been overloaded and hence their bags had been taken down at Dubai airport. On Tuesday, the luggage came by another flight and later delivered to the passengers.

One of the passengers, requesting anonymity, was travelling with his wife and mother. He tweeted, “Horrible experience on flight SG52, wife’s luggage deboarded in Dubai and told will get it tomorrow.” (sic).

The flight took off from Dubai around midnight on July 24 and it landed to Pune airport at 4 am. Finding that their bags had not arrived, the passengers complained to the SpiceJet ground staff.

“I was travelling with my wife and mother, but my wife’s luggage didn’t come. As she had another connecting flight to Bangalore at 6 am for work, she needed her bags. When we contacted SpiceJet, they simply said that the luggage would only come the next day and be delivered to our address. We were helpless and my wife went ahead to Bangalore without any luggage,” the passenger told Mirror.

An official at the SpiceJet counter at Pune airport, said, “Some of the passengers’ luggage did not arrive on the Dubai flight, but it came on Tuesday. There was some technical issue due to which the plane could not carry their luggage.”

Mirror contacted Tushar Srivastava, head of communications for SpiceJet via email, and also wrote to the airline’s official email ID. However, there was no response.
