Thiruvananthapuram: Opposition leader Ramesh has written a letter to Union Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathy Rao urging him to urgently withdraw the decision of the Union government to charge a user fee of Rs 450 for domestic flight and Rs 950 for international flight from the passengers at Thiruvananthapuram International airport.
“This is a decision that will seriously affect many ordinary flight travellers. The fee which was applicable to international passengers is now applicable to domestic fliers also. Along with this, the airport authority of India has also decided to increase the fee by 4 present every year. But for the past five years no renovation work had been done. No new facilities had been provided. If the user fee is not reduced ordinary people will stop taking the air route during travel,” he explained.
