Ahmedabad: The next time you go to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport to see your near and dear ones off, keep your goodbyes short. For, things have changed here and parking your vehicles at the airport for more than 10 minutes comes at a higher price now. Earlier, if you paid Rs60 for the first two hours, now be ready to shell out Rs 85.
With a new contractor taking charge of operating the toll booth at the airport, parking charges have shot up. Interestingly, parking for a charter plane is free for two hours.
While the first 10 minutes (domestic) and 12 minutes (international) is free, any car parked for beyond the stipulated time will have to pay Rs 85 for the first two hours and Rs 20 thereafter for every hour until seven hours. using the parking space for more than seven hours will cost Rs 340.
SS Enterprise, which has bagged the contract to run the toll booth, is set to add two more booths counters. Jitendra Tiwari, Manager, SS Enterprises, said, “To ease traffic at the airport, we have decided to add two more booths, one each at the arrival and departure bays. It will become functional in two-three days. The charges have been decided by the AAI.”
