Trichy airport to get a Rs 897crore new terminal

Trichy: The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has unveiled a plan to expand Trichy International Airport. A new state of the art two-level integrated terminal will be constructed at a cost of Rs 897 crore at the airport.
The AAI is planning to develop the new terminal as a model for raising similar facilities at other airports in the country.
The move has come after saturation of existing terminal which could handle 1.35 million passenger flow last year. The new terminal will be six times bigger than the existing one. It can handle 3.52 million passengers per annum.
A four-member team from M/S EGIS - A France based Project Management Consultant (PMC) along with Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials visited the airport on Thursday. After carrying out a marathon meeting, they have now come up with the final design of the terminal.
