Pune: The delay in starting operations at Shirdi airport may see some added features, including a night landing facility.
A Maharashtra Airport Development Company Limited (MADC) official told TOI that a formal report from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation on the modifications for the airport were awaited.
"The DGCA team carried out a full inspection of the airport in the last week of July. Flight operations at the airport are expected by the end of October, according to the DGCA calendar. By that time, work on night landing of flights could also be completed," an MADC official said.
The authority had told MADC authorities to complete the crash gates and level the sides of the runway. The work was being done, sources said. It was supposed to be a 'dawn to dusk' airport, earlier.
