New Delhi: Air India has instructed that all first flight out of the day (FFOD), or the first flight each aircraft operates must leave exactly on time to ensure that the other flights that aircraft has to operate that day are also on time and reduce chances of consequential delays.
AI director (operations) Arvind Kathpalia has issued an order following a review meeting held by the airline's new chairman Rajiv Bansal saying: "As discussed in the chairman's meeting (on Saturday), the FFOD are to be on dot. Door closure is to be ensured at D-10 (10 minutes before schedule departure time). There will be zero tolerance to delays on such flights."
Captain Kathpalia has said detailed report has to be submitted for any delay of the first flight. "This is to ensure compliance and no deviation will be acceptable," the order says.
