Grounded private airline yet to refund flyers

Bengaluru: It's been six months since regional carrier Air Costa suspended operations but many passengers across the country are still awaiting refund for tickets.
Vijayawada-based Air Costa was operating to eight cities -Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Tirupati, Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam -from October 2013 before it grounded operations in February this year.
Saneesh E, who had booked two tickets from Ahmedabad to Bengaluru for May , said: "In March, I was asked to cancel the tickets as Air Costa suspended its operations. They promised to refund the full amount in 15 days. I have approached the grievance cell of the directorate general of civil aviation (DGCA) which forwarded the mail to the nodal officer of Air Costa, but there has been no response."
With both the airline's website and customer care helpline now dysfunctional, irate passengers have turned to online consumer forums and social media. Passenger Sandip Ghosh's post on an online consumer forum (complaintboard.in) stated that the company owes him Rs 24,420 which he paid for travelling from Bengaluru to Ahmedabad on May 24 and Ahmedabad to Bengaluru on May 26. "I have written multiple mails to the airline and they said it would be refunded in 15-20 days. It's been three months now," he wrote.
