P&W to deliver new A320neo engines to IndiGo, GoAir by 4Q17

IndiGo Airlines and GoAir are set to receive engine replacements from Pratt & Whitney for their grounded A320neo aircraft by the end of September, reports The Deccan Herald.

India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has already met with the US engine maker to seek assurances that they would be prioritised due to the high number of aircraft in the Indian market affected, as well as the strength of India as a customer.

"They have told us that they will treat these as priority cases. They have assured by September they would be able to supply new engines to these grounded aircraft," a senior official is reported as saying. "They have assured us that they will provide about 40% of the new engines to Indian carriers. We wanted them to do that because a large number of aircraft are grounded,"

Currently, at least six of IndiGo's PW1100G-powered A320neos are grounded, while two of GoAir's are also out of action.
