Parallel taxiway to reduce delays at Dabolim airport

Vasco: To decrease flight delays at Goa international airport, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has awarded the contract to build the parallel taxiway at the Dabolim airport to Dilip Buildcon Limited and the work for the same would commence soon after the monsoons, said AAI Goa Airport Director BCH Negi.
He was speaking on the occasion of 71st Independence Day celebration held at Dabolim airport on Tuesday.
“We have been taking several initiatives to increase passenger facilities and to reduce flight delays at the Goa Airport. Recently, AAI has finalized Dilip Buildcon as the contractor for construction of 3.7 kilometer-long parallel taxi-track which will improve aircraft turnaround time at the Dabolim airport. The Rs 125 crore project works would start soon after the monsoon season gets over,” Negi said.
“Other works to increase passenger facilities have already started at the airport. We have given more focus to cleanliness and thus have appointed a new cleaning contractor for the airport. Similarly, since passenger growth at Goa airport has increased substantially, we have already initiated plans to develop many areas under the terminal building to avoid any congestion at the terminal building,” he informed.
