Kullu-Chandigarh flight takes off

Manali: With poll fever picking up momentum ahead of the assembly elections, Union minister of health and family welfare Jagat Prakash Nadda flagged off low-fare Kullu-Chandigarh-Kullu flight on Thursday.
The move is expected to give wings to the BJP in Kullu district in the upcoming polls.
Being a native of Himachal, Nadda, who is in contention to be the BJP chief minister's face in Himachal, was asked to do the honours instead of Union minister of civil aviation P Ashok Gajapathi Raju. However, minister of state for civil aviation Jayant Sinha was present on the occasion as the guest of honour.
Both the ministers lighted the lamps and flagged off maiden Kullu-Chandigarh 72-seater Alliance Air flight, a subsidiary of Air India, at 8.35am. The 45-minute flight will return from Chandigarh at 9:50am. The airfare is fixed at Rs 5,000. The Union ministry has fulfilled this long-pending demand just before the polls. All BJP netas, including ticket aspirants, MLAs and MP Ram Swaroop Sharma, were present at the event.
